Trump becomes first major party candidate to accept cryptocurrency donations
Donald J. Trump’s presidential campaign Tuesday started accepting crypto donationsdelivering on the presumptive Republican nominee’s pledge to become the first major party candidate to embrace bitcoin, ether and other digital currencies.
The move comes weeks after the former president declared himself a crypto candidate during a gala at Mar-a-Lago that propelled crypto into the 2024 campaign.
Trump’s campaign said in a statement he will “build a crypto army” to combat the infamous “anti-crypto army” that Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren campaigned on.
Although Trump has yet to propose a concrete crypto policy, supporters of his position accept the positive noise as sufficient. This is largely because Joe Biden’s administration has taken a decidedly anti-crypto stance in the past.
