Nostra (NSTR) CEO David Garai Resigns After Token Airdrop
In a surprising move, David Garai has resigned as CEO of Nostra, a major decentralized finance (DeFi) project based on Starknet. His departure comes shortly after the NSTR token launched without a vesting period, an event that saw the token’s value drop slightly by around 4%.
I have resigned as CEO of Nostra.
Great @RTPthefirst will take over the day-to-day management of Nostra Labs.
Over the past 2.5 years, our team has grown Nostra into the largest and most profitable protocol on Starknet, earning $2.5M per year with over $180M TVL.

Financial landscape and future projections
Under Garai’s leadership, Nostra reported substantial growth, claiming the title of Starknet’s most profitable protocol with annual revenues reaching $2.5 million and a peak total value locked (TVL) of $221.4 million .
Despite his resignation, the TVL currently stands at $153.4 million. Garai announced a brief hiatus before planning his return to the cryptocurrency arena, hinting at upcoming projects that could further shake up the industry.
Richard Thomas-Pryce of Tempus Labs will now lead Nostra Labs as interim CEO. He inherits a strong leadership team, with Garai focused on successfully launching various applications within the Nostra ecosystem.
The transition promises a seamless continuation of Nostra’s roadmap, including the highly anticipated Nostra Earn and STRK liquid staking solutions.
Token Dynamics and Market Reaction
The NSTR token, an integral part of Nostra’s operations, was fully unlocked upon creation, distributing 11% directly to the community. This bold strategy was intended to foster immediate liquidity, but raised eyebrows about the timing of Garai’s departure.
Despite the initial market reaction, Nostra’s infrastructure and upcoming network upgrades may well position it for a rebound in the volatile cryptocurrency market.
As the digital asset landscape continues to evolve, Nostra stakeholders and the broader crypto community are watching closely, hoping that the new leadership can sustain and amplify the project’s success.
